Moses BBQ

It's rare you get a good old fashioned word of mouth recommendation these day, but here we are trying Moses BBQ. One of those places it's unlikely you'll find unless you know exactly what you're looking for. They're not on Instagram, hard to find on Facebook, impossible to find on the internet unless you know what you're looking for. We kinda feel bad telling you about it because it's bloody awesome and don't want it hugged to death.

Moses BBQ does American style BBQ food. Think burgers, brisket, wings, shakes, heart attacks........Gloriously tasty heart attacks. Moses are based out of Chipperfield pub The Paddock and you might see it on Just Eat as The Paddock. They do deliver or you can collect, with ordering on Just Eat, directly through their website or their app. We went for a Moses burger (the signature burger), a BBQ smoked beef brisket with house slaw, buffalo wings with blue cheese dip, skin on chips, and onion rings. That set us back £30 - which included delivery. That's really good value as we were both stuffed by the end.

The burgers were phenomenal. The signature Moses burger was a patty + smoked bacon + caramelised red onion chutney + the usual trimmings. The meat was thick, juicy and moist, and the layering of all the trimmings played on the tongue in perfect symbiosis. The fluffy brioche bun held it together really well - it was a seriously impressive effort. The beef brisket was so dirty, and in a really good way. It was super moist, dripping with smokey favour (literally and figuratively). It also had great chunks and had really had been shown some love in cooking and marinating. Both these burgers had the feeling of being gloriously home made - with that great BBQ smokiness coming through both.

The skin on chips were also great - I actually had them without any sauce, the highest compliment I can give. The potato was really good quality - they were really sweet and nutty. The wings were also glorious - the batter was really thin, but super crispy - almost like a tempura. They were brushed with a chilli sauce with just a hint of heat. Sadly the blue cheese sauce was missing-instead we got horseradish sauce (??)

The only downside was the onion rings, which I suspect were not as home made as the rest of the meal. They weren't dreadful, they just felt a bit tepid, flaccid and mass produced.

Overall though, this was a really excellent meal. The burgers were out of this world - with most of the sides feeling like they could have come out a US diner. Don't tell anyone else about it... But make sure you try it.

Service:

We were missing an item that was refunded (not that we could have eaten it anyway, we were that full.). It was easy to order online though.

Quality:

Really impressive. The meat particularly was fantastic. It felt like a lot of time and love had gone into making these burgers.

Value & Price:

£30 will easily fill you up - good value for really good food.

Overall:

OUTSTANDING- You wouldn't expect to find an amazing US style BBQ place in Chipperfield. But here we are. This is a real naughty treat and we recommend you try it ASAP.
